Heat
Im hopefully gonna write this one as a narrative rather than script but For some of the more technical areas I may refer to script.
Scene 1 cookery class.
Lucas, Marshall and Vaughn are crowded around a wok on a stove staring distraught at the dark grey mixture that was supposed to be a stir-fry and start discussing how they are going to explain their abysmal food tech scores when Marshall leans back on the stove and burns his hand, at that moment a spark flies from the wok into the tap,in which he uses to cool his burn.

Scene 2 Lucas and Marshall’s room.
Lucas is putting the finishing touches in his painting of the atom for art and Marshall is trying to write an English essay on personification, he is struggling and reaches to pour himself a glass of water. Clutching his water in his burnt hand to drink and cool his throbbing burn down and a pen in the other he attempts to concentrate again on his essay, after a while Lucas’ brush strokes start to annoy him, he begins to loose focus and get angry and the water in is hand begins to bubble. He gasps Lucas looks over and sees the bubbling glass in Marshall’s hand. They rush to professor Z.

Scene 3 Zs office
Everyone is sitting around Zs office. Why are we here exclaimed Vicky annoyed she was missing basketball, Marshall is boiling water with his bare hands replied Z.
(I cant take this anymore going to script)
Z: lets take this from the top this all started because Lucas’ brush strokes were annoying you.
M: Yes but no that’s what made me get mad and I now its stupid but I was trying to concentrate end all I could hear was this brushing sound constantly brushing, brushing (getting angry) brushing, brushing!! aaaah.
(a shot of fire erupted from marshals eyes sending a flamethrower across the room)
C: Wow
Va: why
J: how could a burn off a stove cause this!!!
Z: I don’t know!!! That’s what we need to find out Vaughn you and Corrine go check the internet, Josie go through to the food tech room and see what you can find, Lucas you and Vicky go to the Library.

(you see shots of Marshall deteriorating (burning up) he goes red and begins to sweat uncontrollably) (the others return)
(professor Z pulls them aside and explains that he is really worried about Marshall, )
Z: his anger is uncontrollable he is keeping everything locked up, now did you find anything on stove burns causing a fever.
C: no, nothing.
L: what do we know on heat, because that’s obviously the main factor in this?

V: we just finished a topic on heat before I left London!! The more energy objects particles have the hotter the object is. Heat is the total kinetic energy of an objects moving particles. Temperature is the measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles.
C: ok so Marshall has been burnt, but the heats moving all around his body sort of sort of….heat transfer
L: heat transfer….heat energy always passes from hot objects or particles to cooler ones. Heat travels through solids by a process called conduction and through fluids by convection. Matter can also lose or gain heat energy by radiation
J: conduction…when one part of a substance is heated it’s particles vibrate faster. They conduct (pass on their heat energy) as they knock against neighbouring particles.
C: convection…I read about that somewhere recently. Hot water is less dense than cold water. The hot water therefore floats to the top and loses heat to the air. As it cools it sinks once more. This circulation spreads the heat through liquid.

Z: good so we know some of how this is happening. But not all. But it’s not just scientifically affecting Marshall, psychologically he’s letting small insignificant things annoy him because he’s pressurized. But by whom.
L: well I know that his food tech teacher has been laying into him recently; she’s been laying into all of us. But………I think he is having problems concentrating as well as that. He isn’t doing nearly so well in English or Math.
Z: good, good we’re getting their…I wonder, is their any particular concept he’s not grasping in his lessons. Because he’s struggling with our work on geometry. It could be building up.
L: His personification work. That’s what he was working on last night, I heard him talking in his sleep something about all his grades slipping and that he got d’s in everything.
Z: that’s what he’s worried about.
Va: I dunno about you but when I need to cool down I go for a swim. The outdoor pool is usually freezing even in summer.
C: so if we cool him down physically then encourage him psychologically, he should get back to normal.
J: killing two birds with one stone, anyone fancy a swim!!
C: IN THIS WEATHER!!
Va: I’m in
L: why does everything we do have to involve sport. I’m useless at swimming!!
C: Ok
M: do I have a choice??
J: No!! Ok Professor Z you help Marshall get prepared. Meet everyone by the pool in 5.Come on Corrine.

Scene 4
Va: its gonna be freezing, you know
M: Cold…sounds good.
L: ok guys 3…2…1..
J: Jump
(they all jump into the water its freezing , they crowd around Marshall, shuddering.)
L: In geometry, you helped me with the homework and I understood it, just because you made a mistake it doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail. You just need a little help that’s all.
V: You cant be great at everything Marshall, you don’t have to be top of the class in EVEYTHING.
M: yeah I guess your right
J: Math…no wonder you’re not grasping the concept of the lesson before last. You had a stomach bug, you missed the lesson all you need to do is catch up.
C: personification is simpler than you think. You just have to complicate it by writing the essay. Its just like characterization, its simple.
M: Thanks you guys but its not working I’m still really hot.

Va: Food tech…for god sake boy its cooking remember your theory of never becoming a chef because cooking is womens work. Keep hold of it man. Its true.
M: Yeah…you guys are right. Hey when I get like Madison and Cassie. Then well worry. I feel cold…freezing…yes!! But now we have more important issues on our hand Vaughn.
Va: what do you mean….
M: you know that comment about the women cooking thing.
Va: yeah
M: and my agreeing with it.
Va: Yeah
M: it might just cost us……gulp……..our lives.
(They turn and see Josie and Corrine looking very angry. They begin to edge away. Josie splashes them and so does Corrine. They end up having a water fight….meanwhile Vicky and Lucas are deep in conversation they look at each other and laugh)
V: go on Josie
L: go on Marshall
V: what…Marshall…typical bloke
L: Is that a challenge
(they begin to playfully wrestle…and without realizing it the others had stopped looked at each other)
Va: they are sooooo made for each other
J: come on let’s leave them to it
M: Lucas is turning all mushy... I’m seriously worried. Maybe its got something to do with the black hole.
C/Va/J: SHUT UP MARSHALL
M: (shrugs) I’m serious.
