If an actor wants his/her fans to know about his Myspace then some sort of announcement will be made somewhere. It won't be a big fancy TV advert, but it might be mentioned in his/her official website, or in interviews, or something like that. It would be an announcement, of sorts, and, even if it wasn't saying so in fancy neon letters, it would official.
If the actor doesn't try and make his/her Myspace known to the fans, then he/she probably doesn't want the fans to know about it.

Ahh, not necessarily true. What about viral marketing?
Don't tell the fans, and let them find out for themselves. They'll then think they've found something special and secret, and pass the details around (like a virus, hence the name), and it'll possibly get more attention then if it were announced. It will certainly be thought of higher, as people will believe it to be private - that's the way a fan's mind works.

That wouldn't necessarily work with Myspaces, though. A lot of people know that just because a Myspace says it belongs to someone, that doesn't neccessarily mean it does.

If the actor doesn't try and make his/her Myspace known to the fans, then he/she probably doesn't want the fans to know about it. That contradicts the point of a MySpace. If he/she doesn't want fans to read it, then he/she makes it private.
