I agree. Me, I just have to listen in class and I'll do fine on tests. i dont even have to listen, i just sleep. ;D anyway, I think HS painted an accurate picture about high school. people tend to seperate into groups, just like real life. but really, I think the worst thing is not to be in the geeky group, but to be in no group at all. people socialize almost exclusively with their own group, and to not be a stereotype is to not have friends.

Ok I'll admit it...I slept a lot in High School...but somehow I still heard what was going on. I guess I just got it like that... Try it! You'll like it!

I dont think he's a geek in the show.... 1st of all he is in a band. 2ndly he is the brother of Grant Wheeler. 3rdly he is in the science club and I remeber reading somewhere... the science club turns into the in-crowd blah blah blah- something like that. and also Vaughn is in the science club as well and he is like the mst popular guy in BHH so, would that make the V geeky or the Sciece club cool. Ithink it makes the science club cool because V is still super popular and Madison is still ALL over him like dip on a chip. Sorry if that sounded weird. I heard itsomewhere and well....I have always wanted tosay that. Or in this case write that.

Hold on a second... ancient thread... but a person has actually brought up new points and has elaborated on their statements? You see, that's an acceptable excavation. Well don, bhhfreak ^^ Well, this thread was started a long time ago, things have changed a lot since the first season, which I think this thread mostly focusses on. In the first season, it was agreed upon by nearly everybody that Marshall was a geek. The question is now, at the end of season 3 and Conclusions, is Marshall still a geek?

first season, yea maybe he was a little geeky... 2nd season, he made the band and got even more extreamly good looking... 3rd season, his band is doing great and he got a girlfriend... i dont really ever think he was a geek, maybe a little geekish- but he had a cool charm to him. i dont really have a point here- i just thought i would elaborate on the thread

It's entirely possible to be a cool geek, especially here at the slightly geeky school of Wash U. I think Marshall transcends the stereotypes. Good for him. I'm glad to see some people can have their geeky sides and their cool sides. I think I model myself after Marshall, though not specifically him. One cannot let labels define them, and Marshall definately does not.

And after that, there was a feeling brewing with Corrine/Vaughn But having a bf/gf makes one not a geek?

But having a bf/gf makes one not a geek? It depends how geeky your bf/gf is. If she is of a higher social caste (a rare occurance), you get automatically upgraded to her level of coolness. If she is the same as you, you get a small boost of coolness for being at the top of your level. If she's lower than you, you get a mild drop in coolness for being seen as desperate. The drop is mild, not automatically to her level. For girls, there is much more social weight put on trying to get a higher level boy by falsely appearing to be a higher level yourself. Boys are more likely to mock you for dating a lower girl, but not lose much respect, because the mocking is mitigated by the fact that you're "getting some" when they are not.

And after that, there was a feeling brewing with Corrine/Vaughn But having a bf/gf makes one not a geek? mmm good point. cant really answer you there. i deffinetly dont understand why all of those Strange Days sites say hes what you would expect of a science nerd... because Marshall is deffinetly not what i would picture. and i refuse to believe Corrine liked Vaughn

I always thought of Marshall as a confident geek. Yeah, he's geeky, but he knows who he is and is cool with it. He "owns his geekiness," I guess you could say. I think people respond well to confidence, so as a result, Marshall is fairly popular even though he is kind of a nerd. I never saw the insecurity in him that I saw in Lucas, and that's probably why Lucas got bullied and Marshall did not (from what we saw, anyway).
