Did that article have a point?
And Jeff, you are so NOT anything like Keanu Reeves... you are attractive and can act.

I think it may be a little unfair to blame Jeff for what people have written about them - I doubt he grabbed hold of the journalists who were 'building him up to be the next Keanu Reeves' and begged them not to mention the Schubert play It's probably down to the way the media is in general, not Jeff himself. I don't blame the guy for being angry though. Nobody likes to feel they're being skipped over, especially not when they feel it's a personal insult or a slur on their work and their orientation.

Isn't it written in the FAQ? nope, that's pictures. You could just post the web address (url) into a post.

Here's the thing.....
Sky (Gilbert, the article's author) is a very, very political dude, and is fighting for a group that, cetainly, in the past, has been, at best denied and ignored, and, at worst, persecuted, so you have to understand his reaction. The problem with fighting long fights is that sometimes you become to used to seeing ghosts in the jungle night, if you catch my meaning; you see enemies that, maybe, are just not there.
Or you become cynical.
I don't know if that is the case with Sky Gilbert. I truly don't. I don't know him well enough to say if that is the case or not.
I can tell you this: he's a terrific writer, possibly one of Canada's most prolific playwrights and the show that I did with him, Schubert Lied, was a great experience. It examined the widely speculated view that Franz may have been gay. I am very proud of that show and have never tried to side step the fact that I did that show, worked with Sky, played gay... on the contrary I hold that show up as a banner of work that I am truly proud of. I also gratefully ackowlege that Sky was the first writer/director to take a chance on me in Toronto.
And it is absolutely true that Schubert was not mentioned in the National Post article which he sites.
However, it is also true that many of my, at that time, thirty-some past theatre credits were also excluded, and that is because the article was focusing, not on my resume, only in part on my future, and mainly on the fact that Canadian talent has traditionally had to leave the country to seek career advances.
Sky also tended to gloss over his reaction to my nonparticipation in his other show. If I was less than responsible about returning phone calls, the truth is that he was less than charitable in his pronouncements in response to that. He spoke of me in terms that I really shouldn't use here... I don't even know if some of the words he used were English... he was truly and marvelously weeed. That's cool. That's his perogative.
In the end, I think what's important for me to keep in mind, is that Sky's article is a reaction not so much to me, or my willingness to perform in his show, but to his perception of society's view of gay culture at large, and these fears are, sadly, not unwarranted.
I have no sour grapes toward Sky Gilbert, whatsoever. As I said before, I think he's a terrific writer who fills a very necessary voice in the community at large, and, the truth is, I had a great time working with him, it was a lot of fun and it was a great show.

But will you go to America and try to fill the niche left when Keanu Reeves stopped making good movies?

Thanks for expressing your feelings towards someone so uhhh kindly, but that's just your (and some other people's) judgement. Please don't force your opinion. And like people say, if ya don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all! For you K.R. haters, I'll just shut my mouth about the actor. And to state the obvious ..... Jeff is the man!

Just because his is different than yours doesn't mean he was forcing it on anyone. If we never said anything but nice things this would be a dull board. Please don't tell people how to post.
