Okay! This is my first fanfic for BHH. Now keep in mind when reading that I've only seen one episode, and that was nearly two years ago. I felt I knew enough about the characters to give this a shot, but if there's anything about the characters that you think is out of place, or you think they're out of character, it's because I've only seen one episode, and therefore don't know as much as you guys.
That being said, here is the fic:
Title: Bonding
Summary: Set a few weeks after Storm, it entails Lucas and Vaughn "bonding" and getting to know each other more.
Warnings/Rating: None that I can think of. I think it would be suitable for a five-year-old, if they were able to read it.
Disclaimer: I own BHH and everything related. Oh, wait, no I don't.
Bonding
“No, no, no.” Lucas leaned over and crossed out what Vaughn had just written. “The Dissolution of the Monasteries started in 1536, when Henry VIII was already the head of the church. And it was Cromwell who helped him.”
“Oliver Cromwell?” Vaughn was confused. “I thought he came along later.”
“No, Thomas Cromwell,” Lucas said patiently. “The whole dispute over religion and the authority of the pope began in 1529 when Henry wanted a divorce from Catherine of Aragon…didn’t you pay any attention in History class?”
Vaughn shrugged. “I tried. But Mr Vann has such a boring way of teaching. My mind wanders. I tried explaining that to Dad, but he wouldn’t listen. He said if I don’t get my grades up, he might have to get me a tutor for the summer vacation.”
“I don’t see what was wrong with your last essay,” Lucas told him. “You got a ‘C.’ That’s up from last time, and it’s average.”
“My Dad wants a ‘B’,” Vaughn said. He scowled, betraying his annoyance with his father. “I really think a ‘C’ for History is the best I can do, but Dad keeps saying that if I really push myself, I can get higher.”
“Well, don’t worry, we’re going to turn this into a B-essay,” Lucas assured him. “I can get you an ‘A’ if you like.”
Vaughn shook his head. “No. Vann will probably buy a ‘B’, but he knows I could never get an ‘A.’ He’ll know I had help.” He stood up and stretched. “I need a little break from this,” he told Lucas. “I’m just going out for a walk for a few minutes, I’ll be back soon. You want to come?”
Lucas declined and told him he’d wait. Vaughn gave him a conspiratorial wink and left his room, leaving Lucas to once again take in the fact that he was actually in Vaughn Pearson’s room where, a few months ago, he had never dreamed he would be able to set foot in. After all, Vaughn was one of the popular crowd, although ever since joining the Science Club, he’d started to hang around with Lucas, Marshall, Josie and Corrine more and more, and had become a proper friend. Having Vaughn as a friend was handy as, although it didn’t improve Lucas’s social status as far as people such as Madison, Stu Kubiak, and their cronies were concerned, people who had bullied Lucas in the past were less apt to do so if Vaughn was around, as Vaughn had taken to putting a stop to this kind of behaviour whenever it surfaced. Although he hadn’t actually told him so, Lucas was grateful for this assistance, and had felt obliged to return the favour when Vaughn had asked him to give him a hand with his history work.
