Since there are tonnes of people asking about pictures for their favourite characters I put togethera new photobucket account and went to just about every possible image site and collected a heap of image so that the lazy peole could just go to one place and get their images. I'm always adding new images so don't worry if there aren't any of someone you want up. I'm working on it.

Woah, woah woah! Wait a minute! There are lots and lots of MY images there from MY website. Please see my TERMS for my policy on people taking my images and publishing them to the internet.

ok firstly I don't claim to have made any of the images also I mention that I gathered images from all over teh web and put them in one place thus to make it easier for people to find images of their favourite characters. and secondly Photobucket can't link to other sites otherwise I'd have every site I was at linked here.
so yeah and any way we're all fans here it's not like teh images belong to any of us they belong to the creators of the show just because you photographed them doesn't mean they belong to any one specific person.

Oh god. I seriously hope that Hail doesn't reply to what you just said...
As Hail is right.

I can see you are not aware of the time it takes to takes tose images and upload them to the web. It's not so simple. And Lauren and Hail spent their own time doing that for people to enjoy them and appreciate their work, not for people to do copy - paste. I'm not trying to be mean or whatsoever just reasonable.

Listen, sweetheart. I spent hours and hours and hours in front of a computer on a chair that was not very good for my back getting all the pictures I make. Hours. And I get back ache. And I used software I had to pay for. Then there is the task of sorting the images out into suitable files and sections. Then I spend ages editing them - particularly on things such as avatars, fanart, wallpapers but also on simple images such as the ones from the character pages (doing such things as making sure they're a standard size, all have the right logo, all have the right colour border, all have the same settings so the border looks the same). And the vast majority of techniques I used were worked out on my own by spending a great deal of time fiddling around in PSP, which again I payed for. I pay for my webspace too. And I spend ages uploding them. That is the kind of effort and dedication that I put into my website and making it unique and different. And I can say that Lauren is pretty much the same, so are the majority of other people who make fansites who want them to be something to be proud of. And it takes only seconds for somebody like you to right click, save them and put them up somewhere else without any credit. Now I'm sure I can be excused for thinking that that's just a little bit unfair. My hours of hard work can just be taken like that without so much as a please or thankyou. How would you feel if you slaved for hours making a project that was unique and all your own work only to have somebody take it and hand it in and get the credit? That's the kind of feeling I'm talking about, it isn't nice, is it? After all that work, I think I'm entitled to say who gets to use my images and where. Because they ARE my images. You spend ages working on something and see if it isn't yours. My terms clearly state my policy to people taking my images, if you don't understand them, I suggest you read them again. i don't think they're particularly difficult to understand. I mean 'Don't take what isn't yours without permission' is the kind of thing most people are taught from an early age. It's basic primary socialisation! You didn't ask, you didn't give credit, you didn't put a link. I don't care if it's a photobucket, that's still a massive breach of my terms.
I don't think I'm being unfair. I let you use my avatars for your Black Hole High RPG forum - it's stated that you could do so in the terms but you also asked, which I thought was very nice because you didn't have to. I thought better of you than this. Seriously, what went wrong? Which part of the terms did you fail to grasp?
All in all, I have enough problem with people taking my images without permission as it is - this will only serve to make the problems worse as some people who take them won't even know they're from my site, won't have read my terms and will think they're fair game when clearly they are not.
So far I've counted 77 - and I'm notorious for undercounting. And that's not including the exclusive icons I made to celebrate 1 year of this fine message board (as I figure they have never been on my site, my terms don't apply - of course I don't see why people who aren't members of strangedays would want to celebrate it's 1st anniversary but still...)

The funny thing is, she advertised them here... as if hmm, they might not belong to people...

so yeah and any way we're all fans here it's not like teh images belong to any of us they belong to the creators of the show just because you photographed them doesn't mean they belong to any one specific person. Actually, they would belong to HailStorm. That is why people often watermark pictures - proof of identification and ownership. I'm unsure about it being the creator's intellectual property. In theory, if Jim Rapsas did not want fansites, he would be able to tell HailStorm to remove the pics (at which case i wouldn't blame a good portion of fans from removing themselves from watching the show since her site is visited a lot and attacking a fan isn't looked upon as alright). So far I've counted 77 - and I'm notorious for undercounting. And that's not including the exclusive icons I made to celebrate 1 year of this fine message board If the picture was modified, i think it becomes the intellectual property of the modifier. Not sure, a lot of these copyright things contradict themselves because creators normally do not attack their fans (though you can hear some rare instances, one from a prominent member on this forum though said member doesn't like talking about it). They are there in the event someone takes their stuff and tries to sell it. It also gives more power to the industry, who would prefer to hold that power in the event they need to go to court. It basically comes down to honor and respect. It is understood that you shouldn't take things from sites and display it as your own, especially without citing sources. Personal usage is alright. What you usually do if you want to make a good attempt to get away with taking pics from another site is to have a link to the site. Webmasters like having their sites visited. The more links, the more likely this will occur. Your image host (Photobucket in your case) wouldn't create a link for you. You would manually create it on the website when you have the tag for the picture.

well if it'd make everyone feel better then I'll just lock the bucket so that no one can get in, here I was thinking alright most these images have a water mark or soemthing and if I put them all in one place then all the fans can find the imaghes and not scower hundreds of sites to find the images they wanted. as of Feb 12th the photobucket will be locked so that no one can get to it and I won't cause any more irritation amongst the members of strangedays. *sigh*

Overstate much? I'd be surprised if theres for than 10 sites abot Black Hole High. Don't make yourself out to be the victim. You're not.

Maybe you should've asked first? Yeah, lock them up tight; you wouldn't want anyone to steal them.

What you'd have been much better off doing, Vaughn's Storm, is collating the web-adresses and posting a list of links on StrangeDays. That way, you'd have achieved the same effect (access to all these pictures in one place, i.e. this board), but taken no credit (except for the collating of URL's). People would know who had created the images. I hate to sound mean, but as Gouki says, please do not make yourself out to be the victim. What you did, to be frank, was rude and disrespectful. You are the perpetrator here, and not the victim. The best thing to do would be to make a sincere apology and steer clear of doing anything similar (as well, of course, as locking or deleting the PhotoBucket account). BTW, does it really take three days to lock an account? I thought it took three days to delete an account, but locking was immediate. If so, why wait three days? lock immediatly! I may be wrong, though.

yeah it took three days cause I wasn't able to get to a computer before then I would have done it after I posted here but we had to go out so I posted quickly before I had to leave.
I also have found a way to recitfy the situation, I've decided that I'll build a site and put the images there but I'll have links this time each image will be linked back to it's original source and full credit will be given to the creators of said Images, and as soon as I find a decent way to put my appologie I'll send it out to people I got the images from.
but yeah I was in a foul mood last time I was on hence my stupidity.

I'm sorry to be a pain but could you please read my terms carefully and adhere to them? They're there for a reason, that reason being to explain my policy on people using my images. That is a better idea though.
