Um... a random extra, probably. I have seen an extra with dreadlock type things, but not anybody who speaks.

Actually, most of the extras don't speak. They pretend to. The main cast members do the voices....
(For proof watch 'Thursday' (Or Wednesday whatever it's called)) Corrine smashes into a random girl.... The girl says 'WOAH' and it's quite obviously Josie speaking. It happens in a couple of others aswell.

Thats... odd. Why is that? Gotta pay the extras more if you let them speak?

Maybe, if they speak, they have to appear on the credits at the end and they have to pay them more. As I watch the show translated, I really couldn't notice that but that's cheap. Just a theory anyway

If they speak, the voices carry and interfere with the main cast. Normally, the extra's will be asked to wander around the set after the scene has been filmed talking and making noise so the scene seems more real. It's then added in afterwards. This way there's no interference and they can raise/lower the volume or use as much/as little as they want.
Believe me, I know this.
Being given some lines does not mean your pay rises, nor does it mean you'll be credited. I had a couple of lines on Wicked Science. I'm not sure if they'll even make the the cut. But yeah. Does this make sense?

My sister was in a movie once and she had one line in a two second slot 'GO ON JUMP!' she got paid thirty pounds more than the girl stood next to her who said nothing... honest.
Even so... I just remembered in 'Technology' you hear Corrine say 'four o clock, shopping, great' but she's sat right next to Josie...

Does this make sense? Gouki, that makes a lot of sense. I didn't know any of that stuff. But I still think that, in some cases, they get a better check if they talk as GingerSnap said.

Maybe they do things differently in movies. Or in the UK. But, was she credited at all, in anyway? Even as 'Girl #1' or 'Talking Girl' or something? If so that'd be why. If not, I'd go with the former.

That sounds just about right. Depending if u utter words or even have to wear woredrobe (and u are an extra) u get a bit more $$... according to this actors union manual I am reading... ooo work is teaching me tons...

(Which is just dandy if you play a lead role as a mute)
