Islander, I thought you had anti-smoke laws over there...anyway, an atmosphere like that can certainly be unpleasant, not much for the health-related problems but for all that smoke and smoke-smell flying around. I'd just follow Gideon's suggestion

There is no evidence to show that occasional exposure to second-hand smoke will cause cancer or kill you or anything. Even sitting in the club probably won't hurt you, Islander, unless you do it every night for the next twenty years or something. That's true, but like you said, if it's a regular thing, then it can cause people to get cancer. I'm reminded of Roy Castle, a British entertainer, who was very popular. He never smoked in his life, but he worked in a lot of smoky places, and he got cancer and died. It was a shame, he seemed like a really nice person. I was on a forum once, and there was a thread about meeting famous people, and someone said they'd met Roy Castle once, and that he'd accidentally hit them in the face. It really was a complete accident - I can't remember how it happened now, but apparently, he was very apologetic. He seems like he was a nice person. His wife, Fiona Castle, wrote a book about him and their family after he died; my grandmother used to have it, and I remember reading it when I was about eight. Yes, Islander, follow my suggestion. In fact, you should follow all of my suggestions. Everyone knows I have the best ideas.

Islander: Second hand smoke can kill, but a few hours each week for a few months wont.
I've actually never tried cigarettes. Nothing seems appealing to me about it. It's addictive, smells bad, you have to smoke outside all the time, and you dont actually get any real high. So no. But I still voted yes, because I've smoked marijuana on occasion. Still, nowhere near enough to experience anything bad from it.

So the general feeling here is that people either keep away from it or dabble in it a bit but dont take it seriosly. (most have dabbled)

hey ya'll! I haven't been here in a long time, anyway, I've smoked before during the summer. I don't during the school year since I'm in so many sports. In my town, almost everyone in my grade smokes something. Most of the highschoolers drink on the weekends. It's pretty amazing that some dont even get caught. You'd think they would since the town is so small.

It was my word for the day. (My friend is obsessed with the Texas Long Horns and everything else to do with Texas). My other friend thinks smoking is the best thing ever. But then, that's coming from a girl in 8th grade with a reading level of grade 5. She's really funny to be with, especially when she's been drinking or high.

She's really funny to be with, especially when she's been drinking or high. Most people are more entertaining when drunk or high. It's why the substances are so popular.
