Why are we comparing a well-known and appreciated member of our forum to a computer operating system? This is an outrage!

Why are we comparing a well-known and appreciated member of our forum to a computer operating system? This is an outrage! True. It's not fair to PCs. I use a mac. I prefer a mac. There's technical reasons to prefer a mac. But it's not the origin of my user name.

. But it's not the origin of my user name. What is the origin of your username? I've never used a Mac either. I think in general, most computer systems are of fairly good quality. Whenever I see the term "PCs", I'm reminded of a boy I knew from secondary school called Peter Collins. A nice guy, he was one of us lot who was always in the library.

I *heart* my ibook. I hate my sisters PC with a passion stupid computer kept getting viruses and crap.

I have not used a Mac in 8 years (Hyperstudio ring any bells?). Back then, Windows was better than Mac in terms of program friendliness. The virus thing may be good for Macs, but that just has to do with Windows popularity. If Windows was not used by more than 20% of computer users, it wouldn't have virus issues either - everyone would be targetting Macs. Apple operating systems and iPods have been known to be affected by viruses. It's just so uncommon becuase the market is flooded by Windows. They practically have immunity because there are so few of them they cannot affect others. You can bash Burger King, but there's no point - just go for McDonalds.

I have used both a Mac and a PC. Macs are usually if not always used in the graphics world. from what i understand they are designed for animation and graphics. Im used to Macs for designing so id prefer a Mac for that purpose. But i have been using a PC for last like 10 months so im used to it so i prefer a PC at the moment. for me it all depends on what i am used to using at the time.

MC: The unix kernal is more secure though.
Thus possibly why Ant likes Linux.

Well, it seems that most voters have only used one. I suspected most had not used them but just opt for what they have used. Yeah that scares me. Some dont even know what a Mac is yet everyone knows an ipod even though both are from the same company lol. My teacher was saying that you could get a program. (a graphics one if you must know) from the school to practice and its good as it usually costs £200. He said ‘But I’m afraid you can only run it on Windows.’ A kid said something along the lines of ‘There isn’t anything but Windows’. What a fool. Wow. That just triggered a memory. A Windows/Mac debate was on a computer show I was watching and they said the reason Windows gets the viruses is because it occupies most of the market. They said if you where a hacker hoping to hack most computers what would you hack? I even remember the 20% statistic. The general thing I’ve heard is that Mac is for fun things like pics and music and it is best at it and a PC is best for office e type things (documents etc.) Windows dominates all except for Lunix I have only heard of Lunix.
