Disclaimer: I do not own Strange Days at Blake Holsey High or any of its characters.
Author notes: I have written 2 other stories, but i deleted them. This one has bits of both, and new ideas I've had. I hope everyone likes it. I'll probably write alot over the next few days as I'm stuck at home with the flu,but after that, it could take me awhile, so, please, be patient (though i know i never am!!)
Chapter 1
Josie threw down her pen in disgust. She was sick of marking these tests! She had so many students with so much talent, but who thought science was a geeky subject. But that didn't matter now. Corrine and Marshall were finally coming back from their hiking trip around Europe, and, even though they were 6 months late, Josie was looking forward to seeing them. They had told her they had a surprise for her, but she had one for them to. None of her friends knew about her job as science teacher at Blake Holsey except for Lucas, who was the english teacher.
15 minutes later
Josie ran down the front steps, her hair dancing behind her. She had changed out of her work clothes into her usual jeans and shirt, but she hadn't had time to put her hair up (it took like five minutes as her hair went past her butt) and she wasn't going to have time. She had to go and pick up Corrine and Marshall, and she was already late. She through her bag into her silver BMW bug convertible and opened the door. She put the key into the ignition and pulled out of the car park, to busy singing at the top of her lungs to notice the black limousine parked in the parking lot, or the man getting out of it.
Chapter 2
Josie pulled into the airport car park, grabbed her bad and hurried to wards the international terminal. Corrine and Marshall's plane had been due to arrive 10 minutes, and she couldn't wait to see them.
She rushed through the doors and ran smack bang into Corrine, who was pulling a huge blue suitcase behind her. Josie threw her arms around her friend. She looked over Corrine's shoulder and saw Marshall walking to wards them pushing a trolley piled high with luggage. She pulled away from Corrine's hug and looked at her in disbelief
"I was meant to be the shopping maniac!" she said, looking at the luggage. Corrine just smiled and Josie pulled her back into a hug. She felt something digging into her and looked down at Corrine's hand. when she saw the diamond engagement ring glittering on her finger she squealed with delight.
Corrine smiled "surprise" she said, throwing her arm around Marshall. "We're getting Married!"
Chapter 3
Josie head was still spinning from the car trip home from the airport. She, Corrine and Marshall hadn't stopped talking the entire time, and Josie had filled them in about everything that had been happening at Blake Holsey. Except, of course, that she was working there now. That was a surprise she was going to show them. Corrine and Marshall had gone to dump their stuff and then Josie was going to give them a tour of the school. They were going to go to her office first, though Corrine and Marshall thought they were going to see Professor Z. They were going to see him next, along with Lucas.
Josie, Corrine and Marshall walked down the hall, while Josie pointed out all the improvements and changes. Josie turned right and opened her office door. Holding it open for Corrine and Marshall, she swept her hand around and said proudly "this is my office."
Corrine's mouth fell open, which caused Josie to laugh.
"you never told me you were the science teacher! What happened to Z?"
"Z's the principle now." "And why did you think i was living here if i didn't work here? I graduated 6 months ago." asked Josie, with an huge grin plastered across her face.
"I..I didn't think of that"admitted Corrine. "Will we be able to stay here?"
"Of course you will." This answer didn't come from Josie. Josie, Corrine and Marshall turned to see Vaughn standing in the doorway, his hands crossed across his chest, a suitcase by his feet and a smile on his face. Corrine and Marshall both smiled in return and went to say hello but Josie turned and ran out of the side door, tears beginning to fall down her face.
"She doesn't seem happy to see you" said Corrine, as Vaughn's face fell. "No, she doesn't."
Chapter 4
Corrine tried to follow Josie, but once she was on the area where the teachers rooms were, she had no idea where to go. She decided that she'd ask Z, so she went to the principals office. She was quite surprised at how different the office looked, and was even more surprised at how Professor Z looked. He had barely changed, except that he now had a head of silvery hair. She hugged him and said "hi" before asking where Josie's room was. Z offered to show her, saying that there was something he needed to ask Lucas, who's room was right down the hall from Josie's. This made Corrine stop short. "Lucas works here?"
"He's the English teacher, has been for 18 months. It was funny watching Josie in his classes."
"I really have missed out on a lot." mussed Corrine, following Professor Z.
When they got to Josie's room, Corrine and Z walked in to find Josie lying face down on her bed, her hair and pillow soaked with tears. Z turned and walked out, whispering to Corrine "I'll leave this one to you."
Corrine went and threw her arms around Josie, and Josie looked up at her. "Whats the matter?" Corrine asked "I thought you and Vaughn had gotten close."
"Well it doesn't seem that way to me. He's barely ever here, and when he is, he's so tired he just spends all his time sleeping. We went on one date, and then he left on another long trip."
"Have you asked him what he's been doing or why he won't spend time with you? Because i could he likes you...even more now than he did in school, if that's possible."
"How can you tell that? asked Josie, her eyes widening and a look of hope spreading across her face.
"By the way he looked at you, and by the fact that he had a bunch of roses by his feet."
When Josie heard this she jumped up and went to the mirror. seeing the state of her face she went into the bathroom. When she came out 5 minutes later, Corrine gasped in amazement. "When did you start wearing makeup?" she asked "I noticed you had some on this morning, but it was only mascara and foundation. This is... this is.. well, whatever it is, it suits you."
Josie gave her a sly smile and grabbed a pale green shirt from her wardrobe. She went back into the bathroom and when she came out, Corrine was even more surprised. The shirt was a v'neck with long sleeves, and it hugged Josie in a way that made her look like a model.
"He's gonna wonder where Josie went!" Corrine said, with an almost impish look.
"Good!" said Josie, with a look that was defiantly impish.
"if you'll excuse me, there's someone i need to talk to."
Chapter 5
Vaughn threw the 2 dozen roses on his bed, a look of regret and sadness on his face. He knew he'd been distant with Josie, but he had hoped that he would get a chance to apologies and explain. It didn't seem like that was going to happen.
He pulled off his shoes, throwing them in the corner of his room, sending up a cloud of dust. I really have to air this place out, it smells really musty he thought as he pulled his suitcase on the bed. He was about to open it when he heard a knock on his door.
"It's open" he shouted, while trying to get the zipper on his bag open. He heard the door open and shut. He turned around to find Josie looking up at him, her eyes sparkling.
"Josie! listen, i wanted to apologies for how I've bee.."
He was cut off as Josie put her finger on his lips. Standing on her toes, she kissed him, her lips soft and warm. He gasped, and Josie slipped her tongue into his mouth. Vaughn put his hands on Josie's back and deepened the kiss. He entwined his fingers in her hair, feeling it's silky strands tickle her wrist. Josie pulled back and whispered into his ears, her breath warm against her ear.
"I forgive you."
Chapter 6
Corrine looked round the room that Z had said she and Marshall could live in while they sorted out work and housing. She had almost finished unpacking, and Marshall was bringing in the last suitcase. When she heard the door open, she turned around, expecting to see Marshall. Instead, Josie was standing in her doorway with an almost dazed expression on her face. Corrine grabbed her hand and dragged her over to the bed. Josie sank onto the bed, her legs crossed. Corrine sat down across from her.
"Tell me everything" she demanded.
"We..talked. alto" said Josie, still looking slightly dazed.
"I said tell me everything Josie. did you think i had gotten dumb while i was away?"
"What do you mean?" asked Josie, starting to look defensive.
"When you went to meet Vaughn, you had perfectly applied lipstick. You have none left now, and some of your eyeshadow is smudged. I could always tell when you were lying, you know that."
Josie gave her a sheepish look. "We might have done more than just talk."
"Like what? I want details!"
"Fine. We made out for half an hour. But mainly we talked. I... I think that i really love him." Josie looked down at her hands when she said this, and Corrine thought she was about to burst into tears.
"Is that a good thing? cause you look like you're about to give my pillow a soaking."
Josie smiled and hugged her knees up to her chest. "I guess I'm just not used to feeling like this. I've never really liked someone this much. But, enough about me. What do you have planned for the wedding? where's it gonna be?"
"Marshall and I have decided to have it here. We have to ask Vaughn of course, but i think that should be Kay with him. Oh, and do you still hate dresses as much as you used to?"
"Not as much, but I still only have one, and I've only worn it twice. Why?"
"Because, you're going to be my bridesmaid, and I plan on you wearing a dress. A long, elegant dress. And you have no choice, as it's your obligation as my best friend."
Josie gave her a look and said "Fine, but I hope that you'll repay the favor some time in the not to distant future."
"WHAT?!?!" squealed Corrine, causing Josie to block her ears, displaying the beautiful diamond and emerald ring glittering on her left ring finger. "That's right, Vaughn proposed and i said yes."
Chapter 7
2 months later (yes, i know it's annoying, but i just want to write about the wedding!)
Professer Z watched the last of the wedding preperations through his office windows. He still couldn't get over the fact that, in 2 hours time, Corrine and Marshall would be getting married, let alone Josie and Vaughn. At first, he had thought that Josie and Vaughn might have been rushing the wedding, but after seeing them together, he'd realised that he'd been wrong. Vaughn had become a lot more open and happy, and Z had a feeling that his feelings for Josie had been affecting him for awhile. He'd noticedd a few changes in Josie, though they were much more subtle. She was still her wild, stubborn and unpredictable self, but every now and then he would walk into her office to find her sitting at her desk doing absoulutely nothing, with a smile on her face and a glazed look in her eyes. He heard the door and turned to see Josie standing there.
"Shouldn't you be getting ready?" he asked, taking note of Josie's appearence. She was still in jeans and a t-shirt, though her hair was perfectly straight with glitter sparkling in it.
"I was about to ask you the same question." Replied Josie, walking over to stand by Z's side. "You are not walking me down the aisle dressed like that."
Josie had come to see Z about a week after she and Vaughn had been engaged and asked her if he would walk her down the aisle, since her dad wasn't even in their timeline. He had been greatly shocked, but ahad agreed, because he knew how much it meant to her. He'd had to go to various fittings, and both he and Corrines father had black tuxes with ties in the same emerald green as the bridesmaids wear wearing.
"I'm coming" he said, walking out the door.
1 hour later (i keep doing this!)
Z knoced on the door of Josie and Corrines old dorm room. They had decided to get dressed in there, just for old time's sake. He heard a muffeld "come in" and opened the door. When he saw Josie and Corrine, he stopped short, his breath caught in his throuat. Josie and Corrine had decided not to wear matching dresses, and had instead each had a dress designed especially for them. Corrines had a long satin skirt with layers of soft tulle underneath, and sleaves that opened out at her elbows like trumpets. He curly hair had been put back in a bun and a tiara shimmerd at it's base. Josie's was equally as long, but hers was sleek and stylish. The skirt was much smaller than Corrines, though it still nipped in at her waist. It was sleeveless, and was done up at the back with corset like ribbons. Her hair was still straight, but she now had a Tiara that matched corrines in it. Z was surprised to realise that Josie was wearnig heels, though he had to admit that it lenghtened her profile.
"Vaughn and Marshall are gonna die of shock when they see the two of you!" Z commented, sitting down on Josies old bed.
Josie gave him a shy smile showing her blingingly white teeth. There was another knock at the door and Corrines father walked in, followed by their brides maids, Corrines cousin elouise and Vaughns cousin mandy. Z and Corrines dad held out their arms to the brides, and the bridal parties headed down the stairs. Josie and Corrine stepped out onto the steps as the tune "here comes the bride" began playing. The wedding had started.
Chapter 8
This is the conclusion, because i haven't written in so long i kinda lost the urge to write this story, but i refuse to leave it un-finished.
Vaughn watched as Josie played with Ellie , their 3-month old daughter on the grass. It had been over a year since they had gotten married, but at times he still found it hard to believe that the miracle of nature that sat on the grass was his forever. She was always full of life and love, and Ellie was an exact mirror image of her, right down to her twinkly blue eyes. The two of them looked up at him and he was drawn of his day-dream as Josie stood up. He decided that he would never get used to her beauty, no matter how long they were together.
