Hello all! I'm new to this board. I just stumbled across it the other day looking for good discussion of "Strange Days"--not to mention more info about the incredible cast. Jeff Douglas in particular impresses me in every episode. He plays Z with such sympathy that it's impossible not to love the character. I also think he has done a fantastic job of making Z seem so adept at science.
Obviously, Z is my fave character--actually started watching the show for him. I find his background to be very interesting. Now I'm finally to the question! It has always seemed to me that Z knows more about Josie than he lets on. It is obvious that the two are very close (very obvious in "Chirality"). This may sound trly out there, but is it possible that Prof. Z knew of Josie in the past? Perhaps form the original Pearadyne accident in 1987? Maybe he even knew her in the future.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Royal

It is possible. We've discussed here before just how much Z knows about Peradyne, Victor, Sarah, etc. He worked a summer internship there at one time. I don't think he knows Josie from before, but it is very possible that he knows more than he has let on. Oh, and welcome to the board.

As 88Keys has pointed out, any answers you get will be fanon based. Nothing really suggests that Professor Z knew her before Blake Holsey High. I think the best place to look would be in season 1, especially Wormhole and Magnet. I don't think their closeness is the result of knowing each other in the past but is the result of Josie lacking an actual father figure.

Oh, in relation to this subject--has anyone speculated about what will be in the major "Z/Josie scene" Jim discussed over in the "Creator's Corner"? I'm really looking forward to that one. *Interesting thoughts MirrorCard. I agree abou Magnet--very good scene at the end of that one.

They were also under the table together in Fate (I think it was Fate) when Josie was showing Prof. Z her named carved in the table leg after her visit to 1977.
But I think that Josie and Z are on the same brainwaves. He's the one she turns to when she needs help, and he always seems to understand, without too much lecturing, and helps her out. They're totally kindred spirits!

Definietely--there are some that kind of consider them in a Buffy/Giles type rapport.
Shameless plug here-I've have an R-rated (or M-rated story I think it's designated now) called "Cinnamon Girl" on Fanfiction.net which takes place in the future with Z and Josie at her fifth year reunion.

it could be possible i mean he did not tell them about working at pearadyne until they found the picture i say it could be possible that he may have more secrets he won't tell
(Its a thought)

He probably does know a bit more. It was obvious that he made some sort connection about Josie's missing Chi ball and Pearadyne Industries but didn't mention it. My take on it, since I have trouble believing Z being sinister, is that while he does want to find out what is causing all the events at BHH, being a dedicated teacher and responsible adult, he is trying to do his best to keep investigations safe and legal. A difficult, thankless with the mavericks in the science club,. I'm sure he knew if he said something about the chi ball at the time, the next thing Josie would be doing is trying to break into Pearadyne. Admitted she did that later but it wasn't based on something he said.
I've mentioned this before, but my other thought about Z and Josie, probably more in fanfiction territory, is that we know that Z went to college on a Pearadyne scholarship. I like to think that Josie during a trip through the wormhole or the Janitor's machinations was sent back in time to when Z was still in high school.
I'm assuming he didn't go to BHH but went to local public school near by since he was working locally in the alternate of Fate. Perhaps he had just completed a paper on wormholes or something which Josie secretly makes a copy of and takes or sends to Victor to get him the scholarship. Also being the perve that I am, I think there was some definitely Josie/Z sparkage at back then which would prove interesting once Josie is back to her own time.

Iwas watching 'Cold' recently and realized that Josie and Z end up under the table in Marshall and Lucas's room too.

Makes me think we should construct our own BHH yearbook - one page being "precious professor moments"
