Seeings as the other Doctor Who thread was created by wifeofbayne, who only has access to the 2005 series, it seemed unfair to post about the new series in her thread (either she'd be forced to leave her thread, or she'd be spoilt rotten). Anywho, here's a new place to talk all things Timelord in 2006 (and billions of years in the future, hundreds in the past etc. etc.). And how about a nice little piccy to get the fan-spirit flowing? So, what did we think of tonight's episode? My favourite bits were: The disinfection The Rose-Cassandra The Doctor-Cassandra ("Oh my gosh, I'm beating out a samba" - Brilliant XD) The Intensive Care unit The Sisters of Plenitude You know, it's a shame really. It would all have been OK if the sisters had been a little more careful, and ensured that it really was just flesh, without life. Shame. And Tennant was fantastic! Much better than, err, what was his name, Ecclescake? (I don't mean that, really. Eccleston was fantastic, and will always be special). Other thoughts?

Ah yes, nothing like some actors' legs to get the fan spirit flowing. If it was just flesh though, how would they cure all the mental diseases? Aaaahh... THE FACE OF BOE WAS IN IT. He should have a spin-off series of his own, he should. I do hope his little plotlet is continued one day. Islander, I hate you forever for not mentioning Boe. He's a REALLY BIG FACE! How can you not mention him? I'd agree with the rest of your list... What bothers me though, is why did Cassandra have to trap Rose in that big... Thing, the first time she took her body, but not again? Was the FX team perhaps showing off a bit there? Next week's episode looks brilliant. I almost died laughing (No, really) at Rose attempting to sound Scottish.

The Face of Boe is a little dull. And the telepathy - that's just an excuse for them not to have to match the anamatronics with the talking. I do, however, hope he returns. Surely Rose never left her head - Cassandra just, sort of, pushed her to the side of her own brain, and took up space. Kind of like if I came around now, and pushed you to the corner of your room (aka Rose's brain). You (aka Rose's mind) would still be there, but no one online (aka other people) would see you. They'd only see me (aka Cassandra's mind). Ahhh, now there's a good analogy... ;D And the flesh, fair point. But then how can the sisters say that they're not living, when quite clearly they need to be? As for the piccy - that has broken off exactly where Tennant's legs start, you're right. It really looks as if I've doctored it (pun fully intended ).

Ah, I'm so happy to have it back! And what an excelent way to start the series too. I love it when the Doctor gets all ethically worked up. I was worried that David Tennant wouldn't do angry as well as Christopher Eccleston (who was flaming terrified when he was angry) but fair do's to him, he really was quite scary. I loved it how the Doctor worked out for sure that Rose wasn't Rose. Never mind the 'wotcher' and the 'apples and pears' or the simply diving on him (XD most hilarious screen kiss this year) it was when she didn't care... Anyhoo, the makeup on the sisters was great! Real cat-people And "I am the Doctor and I have cured them!" eeee! *fangirls* Anybody else feel really sorry for Mickey at the begining?

I felt really sorry for both Mickey and Jackie throughout series 1, and the first episode just goes to continue that feeling.
I think I actually feel a little more sorry for Jackie - it's her daughter, after all.
The make-up was fantastic! Sounds a little painful, though:
RadioTimes, 15-21st April 2006: "...we used a technique called flocking, which is nylon fibres fired out of a gun that electrostatically stick to the skin [the prosthetic], so you get that beutiful fur all over the face. Then it's airbrushed to get different patterns. We picked different patterns to suite their characters. There's the novice who is more of a ginger cat, younger and softer; and a gray taby for the mother supirior..."
Aahh, re-reading it I see their fired into the prosthetic. Here was I thinking it was just fired at the actress! *goes to bang head against a door*.
I thought the Doctor's speach after curing them was dull and boring. Also a bit big-headed.

OK, so what reactions are there after Tooth and Claw? Mine: FANTASTIC!!! Werewolf was fabulous, as was Queen Victoria (why I put them together I don't know : Plot was incredible. Twists were fantastic. "I knight you Sir Doctor of the TARDIS ... Dame Rosemary, of the Powell Estate" Couple of things I didn't like: Why did Queen Victoria knight the Doctor, and then immediately exile him? Bit juxtaposing... Also, who exactly were the monks? What did they have to gain from the Host? Other than that, fabulous! More, more, MORE! (Speaking of which, School Reunion sounds amazing!)

Mickey had a NES controller on his shirt.
Mickey is COOLIO.

Coolio, a word I thought was invented by a friend of mine in school a year or two back. How did it reach you?...
What is a NES controller anyway?

"Coolio" has been around since the '80s, as far as I know. NES is the Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo's first home console. A NES controller is, erm... The controller for Nintendo's first home console.

Hmm, I had never, ever, ever heard it before him, and have never heard anyone but him use it. Odd. NES: Ahh. I love abriviations, except when I don't understand them .

Isn't Coolio a rapper from the 90's? Anyway, Mickey is 'coolio' I'm so glad he got to come along properly, all invited by the Doctor and everything, for an adventure. I ♥ Mickey ^^
I thought it was rather good myself. Space-age clockwork = teh genius. Very scary masky things. And I loved the end too... finally it all makes sense... I loved the image of the fireplace too - a fireplace in Versailles that looks into a spaceship thousands of years in the future. Awesome.

Wow. I mean WOW. That has to be one of the best episodes so far. (Well, to be honest, the first half-hour or so was not great, but the last 15 minutes or so were excellent). Take a look at www.cybuscorporation.comThe password to the restricted files is

The password to the restricted files is Oh look, Islander died whilst posting. Did anyone else notice the lack of a "Next week..." at the end? Hurrah for that. I like to think it's the BBC being sensible, but I expect it was just trying to make up for the time lost due to the football. Ah well. This week wasn't particularly impressive, methinks, except that Mickey seems to be taking a bigger part in the plot. Hurrah for Mickey also.

The lack of a 'next time' annoyed me, not because I really, desperately wanted one but because the announcer specifically said 'if you don't want a sneak preview, look away now!' and then it was BBC Bitesize. I mean yes, I don't want to be reminded that I should be revising rather than watching Doctor Who but the man said... grrr
Heh. If you go to the guestbook of that website somebody signing themselves as 'the doctor' has put 'I'll tardis you good!' XD
I have a feeling that next week's will be better - it neede this episode to set up for it and that had to be done properly, so it seeming to start a bit slowly is understandable. Ah, Ricky ^^ That made me giggle on account of the 9th Doctor insisting Mickey was called Ricky whenever he spoke to him. Nice touch, I think.
