If she meant circumference, she should've bally well said so. But thirty feet circumference would fit Hail's estimate of ten feet diameter reasonably well. Only if you round Pi to 3 But sheesh, I am clever, aren't I? Realising she may have meant circumfrence. My intelligence scares me... And Bally? What on Earth? ICWP, you're using words like this now and again, and it's peturbing. The way you're going, you'll be speaking a whole different language soon, and you'll get us deleted for not using English... You're just lazy. Such an episode deserves a deep and thourough analysis. Yeah, well, ultimatly you're right. But I've got two A2 Physics exams next Thursday, and so I'm mentally tired !

I appear to have forgotten already what the 'Next week' thing showed. What did it show? The best my calculator can calculate is 3.14159265, and with a bit of rounding, that also is ten. Hail was hardly going to say "It looked about 9.5492985 feet", was she? Yes, I can't imagine how you might've made the connection. "Did she say 'diameter'? Golly, that's a mighty big word. I think my Maths teacher said it once. What other big words did he say that day? 'Circumfrence', was it? Yes, it was definitely 'circumfrence', spelled with that exact number of Es. Oh look, now I think my dialog has spelling." Someone told me that just last week, actually. What a coincidink.

I appear to have forgotten already what the 'Next week' thing showed. What did it show? Not much of the Doctor or Rose. A bit of Shirley Henderson (love the voice, oh I love the voice!), few men, Peter Kay, etc. etc. This episode, I fear, might be a little dissapointing... . The best my calculator can calculate is 3.14159265, and with a bit of rounding, that also is ten. Hail was hardly going to say "It looked about 9.5492985 feet", was she? I once found the best quote ever on a similar note. I'll go and find it... Someone told me that just last week, actually. What a coincidink. At least spell it right, it's coincidink i.

Yes, thankyou. I feel much better now. I said that as head of security and man with big gun it's his solemn duty to blast them all to smithereens. You're arguing over whether you're clever for working out circumference instead of diameter, but that wasn't dealt with in the episode whereas my 'he should just shoot the darn things' totally was. I think I'm the cleverest I may not remember much from GCSE maths, but I sure do know my narrative convention. (it was kind of obvious that he'd end up sacrificing himself bravely to save the others. What a guy ) And well done to the people responsible for the CGI on the Beast. That was cool ^^ But isn't there some physicsy nitpicking to do with Rose breaking the window on the rocket? (first of all, why would they have a window that breaks with only one shot from one of the smaller less powerful weapons?)

And well done to the people responsible for the CGI on the Beast. That was cool ^^ Indeed, 'twas all cool. Very good. But isn't there some physicsy nitpicking to do with Rose breaking the window on the rocket? (first of all, why would they have a window that breaks with only one shot from one of the smaller less powerful weapons?) Trust me, that two-parter was full of Physics naughties. Firstly, Scooti would have not been able to just float about dead in space - she'd have exploded. Secondly, the black hole. 'Nuff said. Another odd thing was this 'atmospheric field'. How on Earth was Zac manipulating this thing? Impossible. Also, as you say, the bullet. I don't see how the others weren't sucked into space, I can only assume the rocket had one hell of a huge supply of air, and just pumped it into the cockpit at an tremendous rate. And of courese, lets not forget that a lump of rock would never, ever, ever escape the pull of a black hole, let alone orbit it. Even the Doctor realised that was impossible. The list goes on and on, but hey, this is Doctor Who.

I prefer 'coinkidink'. Why? The word 'nanobots' can solve just about any such case. Best quote ever, you say? Please do share.

The human body is under incredible pressure - it has to equalise that pressure exerted by the atmosphere on us (which, I believe, is comparable to around three elephants on your shoulders), else we'd be crushed by our own atmosphere. Put it in a vacuum, and there is no longer anything to equalise the pressure within the body, and it would explode. Simple. Best quote ever, you say? Please do share. Oh I will, I just need to find it... EDIT: OK, here it is: "Inhabitants of the Lateu settlement on Tengua Island in Vanuatu, Steve Shinners read in The Australian last month, "started dismantling their wooden homes in August and moved about 548.64 meters inland". We can only admire their dedication to precision in the face of global-warming-induced adversity."

That's really sad, but it didn't surprise me, because I heard rumors about it before.

True, but they were just that, rumors. This makes it 100% official.

Yeah, I thought that would happen. They used to say it was going to happen halfway through this series but decided to put it off till the end. It's a little sad, but as long as it's done well and the next series is good then that's ok.

Well, I hate being spoiled, so I didn't click the link. But, from peoples' comments, I think I'm good as spoiled anyway.

Well? Thoughts? Mine:
Hmm. Not quite sure...
I think, you've got to admit, as an episode on it's own it was great. Great plot, great ideas, great characters etc. But it wasn't Doctor Who.
As a Who episode, it sucked. Easily the worst of the 24 we've seen so far. I mean, how much screentime did the Doctor and Rose get? 10 minutes? If that? And that wasn't the only problem.
I think it would have done great as a one-off spin-off to the show - a group of people trying to capture the Doctor is a really interesting idea, and in general I liked the way it was handled (except the first 10 minutes - they were awful. And Ursula as a paving slab at the end. Again, awful). But a Doctor Who episode? Nope.

No, Islander. You're wrong.
That was, undeinably (Unless you're Islander) the best episode so far. Both series. Not to mention the hilariousest. I just thought it was nice to see The Doctor from a more foriegn point of view for once. "HEY THERE, I'm The Doctor! Oh! My! God! SPACESHIPS! ALIENS! LASERS! CARROTS! AHHHHHHHHHHH, WEEEEEE'REEEEE ALLLLL GOOOONNAAAAA DIIIIIIIE no we're not." Yes, that's all well and good, but we never get a chance to see what that must look like to a complete outsider. It just gives a bit more depth to the thing, and makes you think not just about Rose and the Doc, but them (Yes, I meant to use the word "them") who they come into contact with as well.
And Ursula as a paving slab is only awful if you're looking at it from a comedic point of view, I find.

Wow. I followed that link, I was more surprised that she's only 23! I missed tonight's episode. I saw the 'next week' on last week's episode and was going to watch for Moaning Myrtle but *sigh* alas, nevermind. I'm not so sure Peter Kay was a great idea? Was he OK in it? He confuses me. One minute he's a comedian, then an actor, then a singer...
