Are we going to have any special challenge fics at some time? I was thinking we could have like Halloween, Christmas and Valentines specials or something?

Indeed it does. I started a fic, and then decided it was terrible. I'm currently waiting for some inspiration and plot bunnies, and when iot is written I will post it!

Hailstorm, I thought you were going to do something with a fanfic? All those ideas we gave you. You and Indigo could maybe help each other. One is their own worst critic, maybe the one you had wasn't that bad, Indigo.

I'm sorry it's taking so long, but I have started one. It's a combination of laziness and being busy doing other creative things (I got involved with a gigantic epic thing: it started as a throwaway comment and spiraled out of control from there - we're building an entire website for it now and I'm making a crest for my pinboard house on the citv site. Again, started as an idea and spiraled out of control. Now I've got plans for a BHH website. It may well spiral out of control). I'm already helping Indigo out a little bit (well demanding to read what she's written so far) and she's promised to read mine when I do some more (I've done almost two sides of A4 but I do have big writing). Going back to school may speed things up because I will have free lessons and will therefore be able to structure my work-shirking much better. Then again with loads of coursework on the horizon it may well slow things down.
This is why I'm not allowed responsibility.

yes, writing a fanfic is difficult, especially if its a continuous one (going in chapters), plus it's a story with real, human, characters, not a cartoon.
hehehe

I've always found doing chapters tricky, stories always end up going wrong because of them. I'll do some chapters that are all waffle and a some chapters that are none-stop action. I need to learn to pace myself better too. I also have trouble recognising where I should wrap a chapter up.

Hey, I finally started a fic that is actually good! think I might get rid of the end bit though, kind of pointless and turned out completley against what I wanted it to be. Bah!

Dragging this thingy back on topic: Who gets to set the first challenge? I think the first challenge should be the hallowe'en challenge (it should probably be set at the begining of october and closed at the end). . But what can it be? You must all promise to do a little something (even if it's vaairy small)for it, lurkers too (I know you're there...). It'll be lots and lots of fun! Riiight. I'm going to stop now as I'm begining to sound like a Butlins entertainer

what exactly is a challenge fic?

Well you have to set a theme and some criteria. For example you might say the the theme is hallowe'en (which it will be) and the criteria are: You have to include some or all of the following quotes (then specify quotes), a reference to this (something scary, it is a hallowe'en fic) you have to try to get so and so to do such and such... stuff like that. If anybody here's brave enough or arty enough then we could have a fanart challenge too, like drawing costumes for the characters or something! But who sets it and who decides who wins? The winning thing should probably be done by poll (mmmm, democracy) or something, when I come to think of it. I don't think we could actually give out prizes... unless it could be getting to use a special signature or avatar or something.

I'm not sure if I follow you. Can you give another example please. I'm kind of slow when it's not that much described on a topic. I get that everybody contributes but what is it all about.

Hey PerfectJade, don't worry about it I'm the queen of waffle. I would PM this to you but you aren't a member so I can't. The idea is, for special occasions like holidays somebody sets a challenge. This challoenge can be pretty much anything (eg. write a pairing you wouldn't normally write. Or write a fic with these quotes (then say what quotes you have to use) Or the following words) My idea is for everybody to write a completely seperate fic and we vote for a winner. But we could do one where everyone contributes, too (nice idea, btw!). Am I being any clearer? I'm sorry if I'm not (I'm finding it quite difficult to get things right, I'm in school and my friend Gaz is being annoying). The idea in (very) short is set and idea and make people write it! (as well as being fun it's interesting to see how different people's minds work when given the same material)
