okay, there is a fourth layer. the final layer.
to all "outsiders" the Pearadyne incident seemed to be an accidental explosion (1st layer). then you have Avenir/Other Side/Whoever's detailed premeditated massive release of energy (2nd layer). and then Victor's sabotaged self-destructing explosion (3rd layer). but Victor's explosion didn't destroy, it added. and the 4th layer is the massive release of energy coupled with Victor's sabotage to produce even more power, a very synergistic result. so the end result was that "Avenir" had more than enough power to do whatever was planned.
and that's why Victor was having the fit when Sarah shoved him into the room and locked it, he knew he had sabotaged the machine, but didn't know Sarah was working with the ones planning the energy release, so he thought it would explode and kill her, must have been quite conflicting wanting to protect her and then finding out she's part of what you're trying to destroy. not sure any of them knew how powerful it would actually be, maybe Avenir did. but Victor seems to have a lot in common with Josie, they both take matters into their own hands without considering the outcome. although, this might be the reason Victor learned to think before leaping, and the reason he changed so drastically.
I like this concept, it explains how much is really happening, all the multi-layers, and why certain things occurred or didn't occur, it just makes logical sense. and fits better than anything else before.

wow, Au, you're crazy and that's why Victor was having the fit when Sarah shoved him into the room and locked it, he knew he had sabotaged the machine, but didn't know Sarah was working with the ones planning the energy release, so he thought it would explode and kill her, must have been quite conflicting wanting to protect her and then finding out she's part of what you're trying to destroy.
*Victor adores Sarah. He was angry because she didn't want to come with him for her safety. *Victor wanted to shut down the machine. He hadn't sabotaged it. if he was to, then he would have at that point. *Victor knows the plan is for Sarah to go into the future. What he didn't know was that Sarah had plans of her own. Notice his lack of "plans to go to the future?!" in favor of " Your plans?" I like this concept, it explains how much is really happening, all the multi-layers, and why certain things occurred or didn't occur, it just makes logical sense. and fits better than anything else before.
well, after thinking that Prof Z took both chi gong balls, which doesn't make logical sense anyway over what really happened, I suppose this makes more sense.

I'm staying with my theory that Sarah made Pearadyne explode so everyone would think she was dead.
