Please say you are going to be part of the final 3! I hope so . Please say you are going back! Please say you are the one who finds out what is happening...something juicy!
Sometimes I watch Strange Days at Blake Holsey High and fell like I am watching Breaker High or Saved By the Bell where the African American girl is just there to add color. Why is this so? I think that during the rest of the summer I am going dedicate myself to creating a board where people can write comments about what things they would like to change in TV and Film. One of the threads will be dedicated to changes in token roles. Look at the OC or even back when 90210 was on, where are the lead people of color? Just thrown in to say a few words here and there, no substance.
Sorry got carried away...venting. I will wait until my board is up. I am a little tired and frustrated, as my trust in broadcasting is coming to an end. I hope there is going to be some light at the end of the tunnel on SDABHH.
Give me hope that things will change.

Shadia is American or Canadian? I'm going to say that she got the part because she was well suited for it and not to fill some Affirmitve Action requirement. I mean, I haven't seen any "Shadia could have done better" comments. Comments about improvement are usually along the lines that it is her character that does not live up to her (The character of Corrine gets stuck with plots that aren't well... You know, we've talked about this - C/M and the perfectionist plot). From time to time, there will be a scene where I wonder why some of the actors said certain lines the way that they did but that's never happened with Shadia.

After watching all the shows that have aired, can you give me any reason why the Corrine character is valuable?, besides coming up with answers that another character could have, if need be. No matter what Corrine does, it always ends up looking like Josie was the one to solve it. The show started off great, and somewhere has lost the edge I loved. The great fantastic 4! Solving problems together.

Corrine is an interesting storyline. She doesn't neccessarily have the best storylines, but she makes for a good one. If that makes sense.
And if it doesn't to anyone else: It will do to Christian)

Yea, but wouldn't that just be black or African-Canadian? PC terms are annoying. I just say 'black'. The reason that racial slurs are bad are because people are intentionally using them to be insulting. The word itself has no meaning with no bad intentions behind it. I just avoid using the particularly bad words because people would just assume I'm using them maliciously. If someone has a problem with me reffering to people as 'black', they should stop wasting their time with me and go look for the people who pretend to be PC but are actually horrible racists underneith. That was rather off topic. But something I had to get off my chest. I would hope Shadia would agree.

No matter what Corrine does, it always ends up looking like Josie was the one to solve it. I disagree. Half the time, Corrine and the rest are dragging Josie's butt out of trouble. (Lost, Stopwatch, Nocturnal). We've seen a lot of character development in Corrine. Look at Hemispheres. Look at Equation. Look at Allure (well, maybe you don't want to look at that one again Granted, both Marshall and Corrine's characters suffered a bit in the 3rd season in favor of the "love triangle," but remember Friction? Corrine's role was HUGE, and she suddenly became an important player in the Peradyne mystery.
I know what you mean about shows with the "token black character," but with Strange Days, I honestly don't see that. I don't look at Corrine and think "there's the black girl." She's intelligent and efficient, helpful, but not perfect, and she has room to grow. (And I am not the most politically correct, desiring fairness in everything, type of person). I'm wondering why it is that you seem to see her role differently?

Don't really want to get into this race thing but I need to clairfy because countless amounts of time my friends who can probably relate better to Shadia then I can have told me they preferred to be called mixed race - they don't feel they should disregard the other half, side, quarter of themselves. Its like not accounting for the other parent, and I do believe Shadia is half white. Funny we don't refer to the others as Lucas = white or Marshall or the others... hmm, interesting. (But as far as "race" does go, I would use black as well - but in instances where it may apply- but it never does, so w/e)
I just wanna be happy and not bored with this whole Josie2 important or not she is just someone I prefer come in once and then go away, not all of us are so in love with Emma we want to see her throughout the show. I don't think its fair to the other cast members who probably want to get more exposure themselves and a decent storylines.
(morning irritability, oh well)

...We've seen a lot of character development in Corrine. Look at Hemispheres. Look at Equation. oh please *begging* let's not look at Hemispheres again. oh the headaches *holds head* (note: the mods don't like discussing Hemispheres). I love the episode, lets not ruin it anymore than we already have Corrine's finest episodes, I believe, are Hemispheres and Friction. Shadia was superb.

We already had the "african-american vs black" argument. No need to do it again.
About Corrine, I think a little more development wouldn't hurt her. After Hemispheres she seemed to be a different person but at the next eppisode she was back to normal.
About the thing, there are plenty of shows starring color people, plenty.

Corrine's finest episodes, I believe, are Hemispheres and Friction. Shadia was superb. Ecosystem, Tesseract, and Probability were really good too. I think I liked Probability best. And we can't forget Thursday. Corrine played against everyone in the Science Club except Z. There should have been a Corrine/Z episode.

Thursday was very boring for me. It gave nothing to the main plot and, I don't know, it just wasn't my favourites. I like probablity and friction, though. She does deserve a bigger plot.

Sorry guys but here is not the place to talk about your favourite Corrine episode or whether or not she needs more importance and a better plot (which she does, obviously, but there's a thread for that) I'm hoping you're right, babyelephant (and that you won't get in trouble for releasing that info... )
