No, Islander. You're wrong. That was, undeinably (Unless you're Islander) the best episode so far. Both series. Not to mention the hilariousest. I just thought it was nice to see The Doctor from a more foriegn point of view for once. "HEY THERE, I'm The Doctor! Oh! My! God! SPACESHIPS! ALIENS! LASERS! CARROTS! AHHHHHHHHHHH, WEEEEEE'REEEEE ALLLLL GOOOONNAAAAA DIIIIIIIE no we're not." Yes, that's all well and good, but we never get a chance to see what that must look like to a complete outsider. It just gives a bit more depth to the thing, and makes you think not just about Rose and the Doc, but them (Yes, I meant to use the word "them") who they come into contact with as well. And Ursula as a paving slab is only awful if you're looking at it from a comedic point of view, I find. No ICWP, you're weird... Anyway, as I said, I thought it was great to see things from an outsider's perspective, and I would love to see more of it, but not as a Doctor Who episode. I tune into Doctor Who to watch, err, the Doctor, not some other characters alltogether. This show would have been great as a once-off spin-off, but as a Doctor Who episode, nope. Just not right. Would be interested to hear Hail's view... And Ursula as a paving slab is only awful if you're looking at it from a comedic point of view, I find. Enlighten me. From what point of view was it any good?
Might I just commend Mirage for a) her bravery to join a discussion between very senior members so readily, but much more importantly b) to do so in an intelligent manner, something that, ohh, around 1 in 10,000,000 achieve. Welcome to StrangeDays Do you have digital TV? Freeview? Anything similar? 'Cause if you do, don't forget that it's repeated tomorrow night on BBC3 .

He was much less crap than you might expect. The trick to his not-crapness is not noticing the fact that he's Peter Kay. Anyway. You, Islander, and you alone, shall tonight have the priviledge of me actually using the quote button to quote your post. Consider yourself incredibly lucky that I can't be bothered to manually insert italics right now. Anyway, as I said, I thought it was great to see things from an outsider's perspective, and I would love to see more of it, but not as a Doctor Who episode. I think, if anything, expecting a 'proper' Doccer Hoo episode actually improved the episode for me. Made me think "Oh, what a total Islander I've been!". It was still about The Doctor, but in a different way. A way in which my tired 1:30AM mind won't allow me to explain. If it were a spin-off, as you say, it should've been focused around LINDA, but it wasn't, really. To me, it was still a Doctor Who episode. Oh yes, and forgot to say earlier — LINDA is the second most fabberoo acronym EVER. A less comedic one. Some more senior than others, I feel I should point out. Oh yes, well done Mirage. We need more yous.

He was much less crap than you might expect. The trick to his not-crapness is not noticing the fact that he's Peter Kay. Ignore him, Mirage. You will learn to ignore ICWP a lot - 'tis for the best... Ahh, and now we see why ICWP loved this ep so much - he's a Peter Kay fan. *Sigh*. Tell me, would you have enjoyed it as much without Kay? Anyway. You, Islander, and you alone, shall tonight have the priviledge of me actually using the quote button to quote your post. Consider yourself incredibly lucky that I can't be bothered to manually insert italics right now. Lazy. Look, I always quote properly. When posting long LPE comments, I have a notepad open and ready... I think, if anything, expecting a 'proper' Doccer Hoo episode actually improved the episode for me. Made me think "Oh, what a total Islander I've been!". It was still about The Doctor, but in a different way. A way in which my tired 1:30AM mind won't allow me to explain. Doccer Hoo? 'Scuse me? Are you becoming an Oxford student? I'll give you a total Islander if you're not carefull... And please do explain, when you have your 'middle of afternoon' brain engaged. Oh yes, and forgot to say earlier — LINDA is the second most fabberoo acronym EVER. After? Ohh, ICWP I suppose... Some more senior than others, I feel I should point out. Oh yes, well done Mirage. We need more yous. Yup - that'd be me. Three times as many post as you.

Eh? When did I say that? I've only ever seen Peter Kay in the Blackpool thing he did, and this episode of Doctor Who. And I was severely disappointed with the Blackpool thing.
Nah, I just wanted an excuse to use that spelling. You know how adventurous I am with the English language.

You implied it. But never mind. As for the spelling - you baffle me... I'm off to bed. 'Night.

Nah, I just wanted an excuse to use that spelling. In Soviet Russia, spelling just wants an excuse to use YOU!

Well I don't really know what to make of it, really. Deffinitely a strange one. It doesn't feel like it totally fits into the rest of the series, but if you take it out of context, it was alright. Mark Warren was pretty good in it - the whole speaking into the video camera thing was quite convincing (he had that proper 'I'm a real dork making an autobiographical video including a dance sequence' tone)... mind you, I'm wondering if they made him an ELO fan specifically to grate on my nerves (I hate that Mr Blue Sky song with a passion) Can't wait for MW to be in LOM next year ^^ Peter Kay was... quite strange. I'm not used to seeing him outside the context of GARLIC BREAD?! etc. He was partly quite good, but you could still tel it was him by certain mannerisms (like the way he flicked the cain with a little eyebrow raise 'watch yerself' nod) Overall, the story was really sad. They were all jolly and happy and then it was all runined by the end Aaawwww.

Mark Warren is good in Hustle ^^ That's a good show, it should come back. I'm too nice to completely ignore ICWP

No, no don't completely ignore him. I said ignore him a lot. If you just feed his posts through, well, some sort of spam filter, you'll be OK !

I think you'll find, a spam filter would be so absorbed in the philosophical and aesthetic perfection of my posts, and engrossed in the intellelectual mass, you'd never get them back.
Yes, my posts give spam filters souls.

So, ICWP, Hail, others, what did we think of Fear Her? I thought it was excellent. Bit slow at times, but really, really excellent. Favourite bit? The Doctor 'parking' the TARDIS the badly XD XD !!!

So, ICWP, Hail, others, what did we think of Fear Her? I love how we've got our own little group here. It's like having a likkle mini-forum inside the thread. Anyhoo, Fear Her... Well, as you say, some bits did drag on a bit. And, as we all know, I like to concentrate on the negative. I do get the feeling some of the writers perhaps can't handle forty-five minute's-worth of episode. 'Twas a very interesting idea though. But I really think they should've done a bit more with the girl drawing the Earth... Maybe I just wasn't concentrating, but I barely noticed it until she'd stopped anyway. My favourite bit (Superior to Islander's favourite bit, of course) was The Doctor admitting his not being a "cat person". I'll do no disrespect to the quote by approximating it, but 'twas hilarious. Meanwhile, I'm more excited about next week, having seen the trailer.

I really liked the idea of Fear Her - it was really cool. The only complaint I have is "Grrr I'm coming to hurt you!" I know, the scary dad drawing was from a child's dream, but not even children genuinely dream "I'm coming to hurt you..." That's what he would be doing, not saying. Maybe the "I'm coming... I'm coming downstairs grrrr" etc. but not "coming to hurt you" Tha's just weird. Otherwise, great ep. Oh but another negative... heavy handed forshadowing being a bit too heavyhanded. Other than those two minor things, super. I loved the drawings - they actually looked like a child's drawing without being patronising and making them really, really childish - like it was at the level a child who's good at drawing would be at her age - the eyes being oval, the face being evenly shaped etc.

I think the ep was OK. The melodramatic script gets to me sometimes. I just don't think things like "who's going to hold his hand now" really works or fits in with the rest of the episode. Billie Piper even looked uncomfortable saying it, or is that just me nitpicking?

Well?
And yes I'm lazy - I can't be bothered to put my adoration for that episode into words...
