Well... yeah. And a Bowie song.
A deity of mine.
Ahh, thank frog for that. I can't even pronounce "Gnyuh".
...
Well, now there's an image in my head of Islander saying "Did you think I would leave you crying..."
Ah! There we go then, 'tisn't just me. Hail, I'll from now on consider your opinions on comedic matters to be those to resolve all arguments.

I need a general opinion here: I've started listening to Rolf Harris. Is this sufficient reason to break all contact with civilization, give myself the name "Gnyuh", feed only on warm moss and live under a fallen tree on a beach somewhere? No way! I like Rolf Harris. I loved hearing him sing Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport with the Beatles. And we've got a tape of children's songs that I used to listen to a lot when I was a kid, and two songs on there are by Rolf Harris. There's one song called Jake the Peg - "I'm Jake the Peg, deedle-leedle-leedle-lum, with my extra leg..." And the other one is about a boy who gets separated from his mother while they're out shopping. "Just like the inside of any big shop, people were everywhere. Suddenly business was brought to a stop when a terrible yell hit the air...I'VE LOST MY MUMMY..." And then there's Two Little Boys, of course. Speaking of that tape of children's songs, I'm now thinking of all the others on there. There's Granddad by Clive Dunn, You're a Pink Toothbrush, I'm a Blue Toothbrush, by Max Bygraves, Ernie, by Benny Hill...and loads more.

Wise choice. Look at it like this: Islander and I have both been to see comedy shows live. What did Islander see? My Family. What did I see? The Mighty Boosh. Which one had a yeti ballet, pelt the rabbit, Big Leg, a drawn out death scene, a sword fight, passing the kinder test, a transexual merman with an obsessive crush (and a catchy song to express it) and The Moon? Certainly not My Family is all I'm saying... Oh and who's DVD collection includes all 3 Monty Python movies, 7 series of Red Dwarf and the anarchic masterpiece that is Doctor Strangelove or 'how I stopped worrying and learned to love the bomb'? I'll give you a clue, her name starts K, ends with e and has a ati in between.

Well if that's the case, maybe Yahoo wants to kill you... ! Wise choice. Look at it like this: Islander and I have both been to see comedy shows live. What did Islander see? My Family. So I'm the better comedy person. So there !

I'm very much alone with my comedy tastes... Still, my comedy is great comedy in its own right. Watching Cheers, I feel like entering the bar myself and talking to all of the regulars. And it's the same for Taxi - I want to go and befriend everyone who works at the Sunshine Cab Company, even the utterly horrible Louie De Palma.

bah, that sucks I hate that feeling of knowing you need to sleep and not being able to but you've got to try because you know you won't do anything more productive. Catharine Tate? I haven't seen Green Wing but Catharine Tate... pls. Generic post Fast Show sketch show... not that cutting edge. If you'd have said Snuff Box (although it isn't out on DVD yet) I'd consider giving you soe cool points on account of Snuff Box actually being quite fresh and innovative and having Matt "the best voice in the business" Berry and Rich "WTF?!" Fulcher starring in it. Sorry dude, it's not that I don't respect you, it's just that your taste in comedy is a bit... generic on the whole. I also forgot to mention that I have all of Black Books and will be heading out at sometime to waste a lot of money buying all of Father Ted. I still maintain that my taste in comedy is > Islander's taste in comedy. I'm sure I had something else to say about Time Trumpet. I think it was probably along the lines of it's the work of Armando Ianucci (sp? :s) isn't it? It was relatively funny, but not as good as the Charm Offensive (which is on t'radio) Oooh and speaking of new things on t'radio, there's a new series of Museum of Everything!

We have a couple of old Atari systems...my cousin actually had the ET video game, which is quite possibly the worst video game ever made.
Daria, actually- it was on Sick Sad World. Hmmm...Sick Sad World quotes would be good for my sig.
I just don't like excessively mouthy people who "don't hold anything back." Personal preference, I guess. I mean, I appreciate honesty, but show a little discretion.
Lol...but you're not from the City, are you?
Does one really need a good reason to do all that?
Wasn't there a Billy Joel song called "Captian Jack?" But I think it's about Jack Daniels.

I just don't like excessively mouthy people who "don't hold anything back." Personal preference, I guess. I mean, I appreciate honesty, but show a little discretion. Let me assure you, he's really not that bad. Especially not now. He's not really rude to anybody - he's always very nice to the people I've seen him interview. Wasn't there a Billy Joel song called "Captian Jack?" But I think it's about Jack Daniels. I'm a Billy Joel fan! "Sing us a song, you're the piano man..." "She's always a woman to me..." "You had to be a big shot, didn't ya...?" I've never heard of Captain Jack the song, though. I hear Billy Joel does quite a bit of work with Elton John nowadays. It's a shame he doesn't record new music any more. Does anyone else think that Robin Williams is a very funny man? I was thinking about how, when I was about six or seven, I used to watch re-runs of Mork and Mindy, which of course, starred Robin Williams as the alien Mork, living on Earth with human Mindy. I used to love watching it - I remember they had a son - only their son was a fifty-year-old man. Remember - "I am Mork, from Ork - nanoo, nanoo!" And he was great in Mrs Doubtfire. "I am Euphegenia Doubtfire..." And then later, when his two oldest kids find out, first, that Mrs Doubtfire is a man, and then find out she's their Dad. He's standing over the toilet, and his son comes in and stares at him in horror. Then his son runs out and rushes to his sister, yelling, "Mrs Doubtfire! He's a she, she's a he, he's a she-she!"

I still maintain that my taste in comedy is > Islander's taste in comedy. Fine. Humphh. See if I care . *Islander goes to sulk in a corner*. Still, we both like Doctor Who, which can be slightly comedic at points... ...no, darn it, I've lost .
I was board, so was about to post the html coding for this forum's home page, (just for a laff, as you do : , but then a) decided that it was spam, but more importantly b) discovered that it was 12 A4 pages in length! On a totally different subject, anyone watch Excuse my French?

...no, darn it, I've lost . Watch Mrs Doubtfire and then you'll creep back up. I love the part where he's with the family at the restaurant (as Mrs Doubtfire) but his boss has also arranged to meet him at the restaurant, so he has to keep making excuses to leave and change out of his costume so he can go and see his boss - and then make excuses to leave his boss so he can change back into his costume to rejoin his family before he again has to go and see his boss again. And of course, the memorable scene where he dashes across the restaurant to help Stu, his wife's boyfriend - "Help is on the way!" - and in doing so, accidentally reveals who he is. And the ending is good too. Really, really good film. Incidentally, Robin Williams was a good friend of the comedian Andy Kaufman (1949 - 1984) who played Latka Gravas on Taxi. I've got a book about Andy Kaufman; there's a photo of the two of them together. I just got through watching about the last thirty-five minutes or so of The Green Mile, starring Tom Hanks. It's certainly a very moving film. Speaking of Tom Hanks, remember, "Run, Forrest! Run!"

Oh, I've watched Mrs. Doubtfire. My only quibble with it is why the bliddy heck did they change it from Madame Doubtfire!?!, as it should be and indeed is in the book. Other than that, a really great film, though surprisingly enough the scene you cite is one of my least favourites.

My only quibble with it is why the bliddy heck did they change it from Madame Doubtfire!?!I've no idea, although I did know that that was the name of the book. Maybe they felt that "Madame" sounded too highbrow? I was watching a documentary on the 100 Greatest Family Films and Mrs Doubtfire was one of them. The kids said that they originally met Robin Williams all dressed up in his Mrs Doubtfire attire, and they were told that she was Chris Columbus's mother. He really did a great job convincing them; they had no idea who he really was.

You only saw the end? Please tell me you saw the rest of it first! That's a really great movie, one of my favorites.
Islander- I think that was to "Americanize" it. No one here would say "Madame" anything.
I just baked some zucchini bread. It smells delicious, but I think it's a bit late to eat it. It will be very good for breakfast in the morning though.
I got an email the other day from an old friend. Sort of. We were very very close when we were teenagers (over 10 YEARS ago!), then we had a bad falling out and haven't spoken much since then. She sent me an email the other day saying a book she read reminded her of me, and so I responded (because oddly enough, the book I was reading at the time reminded me of her). She said she would like to keep conversing, if that's OK. And it is...I mean, I forgave her a long time ago and I don't have any bad feelings towards her, but it's still kind of weird. I guess I'm not sure I really want to get close to her again. Hard to explain, and I know I'm rambling. Just felt the need to share that with someone, and that is what you all are here for.
