In many shows/films I've seen, the people who are good at sports mostly seem to be portrayed as lacking in the academic area. While this is undoubtedly true for some people who have a marked sporting prowess, I know the majority are very bright and perform well when it comes to their studies.
So I wondered if Vaughn is portrayed as a stereotypical dumb jock? I've read that he doesn't tend to do well in academic subjects, but that seems to be down to dyslexia, which is something he can't help. But since he's been in the Science Club, has his interest in academics grown? Does he enjoy any non-sporting activities, like reading or writing, or something like that?
He didn't come off as being unintelligent in "Echolocation", to me, so I just wondered.

He did in the first two episodes, but Vaughn's improving academics and the fleshing out of his character has been ongoing. I think he gets the most character development, personally. Then its Lucas, then Josie, then Marshall, then static old Corrine, then Z.

Did Vaughn join the Science Club in the first episode? I was wondering because, if the others didn't properly befriend or trust him until "Storm", then for a good few of the episodes of the first season, he must have been a bit of an outsider in the group; is that correct?

He first joined th Science Club in Magnet, the third episode.
In Thursday there was some effort to bring him more into the group but he doesn't really become a real part of the group until the end of Storm. And even after then, as seen in Camouflage, he doesn't always feel included.

He did better academically as the show progressed. I always took this way: He's not dumb, but sports come easier to him than academics. I mean, if you have to struggle to read anyway (dyslexia), it makes sense that schoolwork would be challenging, no matter how intelligent you are.

I think Rob would want the best for any of his characters he plays... and we all pretty much know he is very athletic since he and I quote is "canadian national champion for brazilian jiu-jitsu for 21 and up at the age of 16."

Just by opening up a "new message" placing his e-mail where it says "to" and then typing the note in the "message box"... nothing to fancy... just the basics. He didn't include nah nah! |

Well in brainwaves, you can see his dislexia is the main reason he's not that good academically. He spent the whole day reading and told Lucas that had been his favorite part...that and kissing Josie. I think he's smart in a different way. Obviously, not Corrine-like.

In Australia, Calculus is only covered in Mathematical Methods and Specialist Maths. Both being the advanced Maths classes. And quite difficulat as well.
