Okay, as predictions go, 2 out of 3 aint bad. The episode starts and we see the science club playing cards together. "The game is hearts." Josie tells us. There's some great shots of the guys looking shifty - pulling the 'Aha I am playing cards' face. lucas looks confused. "The object is to loose all your hearts, a concept that Lucas doesn't seem able to grasp" The game is ending ad the players call out how many hearts they have. Josie wins with zeron, Lucas has 7 + 13 for having the Queen of spades. Vaughn teases him. Josie asks what they're playing for next as she deals again. Lucas refuses to be beaten and suggests double or nothing. We se Lucas lose again and again, each time getting a highter number of hearts. Marshall suggests they quit Lucas looks depressed. Lucas has lost 15 hands in a row, a new record! Josie thinks they should stop playing cards at lunch but clearly Lucas doesn't know what's good for him and says no, he'll start winning one day, and they'll all be sorry. the scene changes to Lucas in the science lab. We're shown a pack of cards, an encycolpedia of vision, a special pen and a pair of glasses that Lucas is treating with some mystery solution. "those guys are not gonna know what hit them..." he says. He writes on the new set of cards he has with the special pen, writing the card number and suit down, we can't see the pen markings. There's a wave of wormhole energy over the modified glasses, he doesn't notice. He puts on his new glasses (He should have gone to Specsavers : and looks at the card he has just written on invisibly and the writing shows up! Filthy cheat Suddenly, he can see throught the cards to their design on the front. He is chuffed, as you would be. Opening credits. Z's giving a lecture on the eye, explaining how we see. He talks about the iris (there's another case of Stew sleeping and Z embarassing him) and how it not only gives the eye it's colour but alters the size of the pupil to control how much light we accept. He also mentions prescription eye glasses and how they can help you see closer or futher away and help put the world into focus (he plays with his own glasses while doing this ;D Z fangirls will love it, it's adorable!) The bell rings and Vaughn thumps his nasty dirty football boot in front of where Lucas is sitting, Lucas owes him unlimited shoe shines for a week. This kids, is why we don't gamble. Lucas refuses saying that by 3.30 (when Vaughn's pratice is) Vaughn may have to do it himself. He wants another game of cards "I'm feeling lucky" Vaughn and Lucas are very cold with each other. Josie says Lucas ought to learn to be a gracious loser. We see the SC about to play cards again. Lucas put on his new glasses, claiming they're better for up close. Vaughn says he's expecing a mirror shine on his cleats. What's a cleat? Corrine begs Lucas to re-consider but he's after double or nothing and won't back down. Marshall pulls faces at Lucas, saying 'Noooo! nooo!' (I think it's lovely and squeal a bit. They play and, obviously, Lucas can see through their cards and wins. they play again and Lucas wins again. Everybody's begingin to get a bit embarassed now and vaughn keeps losing. Eventually we just see a smug Lucas saying Zero over and over again to signify that he's won loads of games. "Guess who's shining soes now." he grins. Josie exclaims that that was amazing. he says that maybe he'll show her his secret... when she's done cleaning his room for the next 2 weeks. Marshall tells Josie she's in for a rough time, it's a gross job...But not as bad, says Lucas, as carrying his books to every class which is what Corrine will be doing. She warns him that one day his luck may run out. As Lucas get up to go, he gets dizzy. marshall asks if he's sick but he says it's 'just the rush of winning' Lucas walks around and realises to his amazement and horror that he's started to be able to see through doors and walls. "You coming?" asks Marshall, apearing behind him. Lucas jerks around and gets and nasty shock. he can see Marshall's scull! Marshall asks if he's okay again. Lucas says he's fine. marshall starts telling Lucas this story heard about a friend of a friend of his brothers.Lucas sees Victor reprimanding Vaughn and completely ignores Marshall, staring past him. Lucas brushes past him, still staring at Victor and Vaughn, saying he'll talk later. Marshall looks a bit hurt "good game today!" he calls after Lucas, who ignores him again. Vaughn is zipping up his bag and Victor is saying how things have to improve. Lucas uses his Xray specs to see what Vaugn has in his bag. "If I can see that envelope, Victor" he mutters "Imagine what I could see in your office" Lucas goes to see Vaughn in teh lounge and Vaughn asks if he's here to gloat. Lucas says no, he just wanted to... but hesitates as he's string hard at Vaughn's bag. Inside there's an envelope with a test paper sayign D+ on the top. Lucas then offers to go round to Vaughns house that evening to help him study for the next calculus test as he heard he hasn't been doing very well. vaugn is surprised. Lucas says he just wants for them to get along better and help each other out. As Lucas tries to leave, he walks straigt into the foosball table, he realises he can hardly see it. he then walks into the door. vaugn says that maybe he should stay in tonight but Lucas insists that he's fine. he manages to open the door, at last and onece he's on the other side, he says "You're not fine, Lucas, you're going blind!" Adverts.

Lucas is sitting in the caffeteria alone, wearing dark glasses and massaging his temples. Josie enters "Who's there?" he asks. Vaughn has told Josie that Lucas has been acting weird so she's checking on him. Lucas replies that it's Vaughn who'll be 'feeling the pain tonight' Josie starts to get mad again. He asks if it's ever occured to her tthat he may be right and that he's going over to Vaughn's to find the chi ball and that will be all the proof she needs. "Enough!" She says that vaughn had nothing to do with taking it. Lucas says that he's NOT doing this because he's jealous. honest. (he's lying) "Ok then, are we cool?" Josie asks, releived. He says they are but that's not going to stop him going over to search for the chi ball. Josie gets frustrated and he asks if it's because she's scared of what he might find. She says no but we can see that he's touched a nerve. She leaves to clean his room - he tries to tell her that it doesn't matter but "A deal is a deal. you won, fair and square." she states, making him feel about as big, noble and pleasant as a pile of dried mouse droppings. He massages his temples some more, wincing in pain. We see vaughn studying at home. Lucas is with him but he's not studying, he's squinting really hard at the walls and to this point only seeing pipes. then he sees something that looks likely, he can't see it clearly enough though. "I knew it! " he cries, forgetting himself for a moment. vaughn snaps his head up "What?" Lucas feeds Vaughn a line about loving art he knew it was a oil painting, hence teh exclamation. he 'goes to take a closer look' standing inches from the wall and squining with all his might. "Are you sure you're supposed to stand that close?" asks a baffled Vaughn. Lucas makes up some more stuff about 'upclosonism'. he finally sees through and it's the pendant (!!!) hanging in this funny jar thing (think the glass thing that the beast kept the rose in in disney's beauty and the beast (don't judge me )) but fails to see the significance. "No chi ball" he mutters "What are you doning?" demands Vaughn. Lucas turns swiftly and is suddenly overwhelemd by pain, getting a huge bright flash. he cries out. Vaughn asks what the matter is and he says he's getting a migraine and could Vaughn please fetch him some water and a painkiller. Lucas's vision is all bright and blurry and weird (oh, the joy I will have screencapping this : Vaughn goes. Lucas leans heavily on a table, clearly in a lot of pain. he keeps getting bright confusing flashes (the camera work is v. effective) and ech time this happens we hear the Quiong ball noise. "It has to be here" he says, still dtermined. his eyes alight upon the big black thing where Victor keeps it, only all he can see is a weird whitish structure and something very bright hovering. He peers at it and it pulses brightly, he screams in pain, truning away he takes of his glasses and tries to look again. It pulses again and he screams. "I can't see..." He tries to stay calm and fumbles along the desk, knocking stuff over looking for the phone. he finds it at last and phones Josie. She is not ammused. he says he's found something but he's trapped in Victor's office and needs help. he tells her he's blind. Vaughn re-appears with a glass of water and gets very angry, accusing Lucas of comin here to search his dad's things (interestingly, some of the documents on the floor look like the ones Kelly went through in Wormhole2). to make matters worse, Josie appears. "Were you in on this too?" vaughn asks "Part of what?" she asks. She says that Lucas called her telling her that... Lucas interrupts saying that he called her to say that if she was finished cleaning his room then he needs to inspect it. Josie has to take his arm and lead him out. vaughn is increasingly upset (lucas is leaning on her with his arm around her). "Whatever, josie." He says, coldly, letting them leave. Josie is not a happy bunny. Vaughn looks very hurt as they leave. Next we see Z inspecting the glasses with a funny light thing, saying he's never seen anything like them before. Lucas has to fees up that he made them to cheat in hearts (he's sitting at a table, a tie tied around his eyes. At this point PI members start nuding and winking at one another). Lucas is ashamed and seems to have learned his lesson for now. he also says "trying to prove Vaughn is a bad guy put another friend of mine in a very bad position." josie asks if they can talk about that later. Z inspects Lucas's eyes and says there's nothing actually wrong with them, but the pain from the stress caused-migraine may be causing the temporary sight loss. He uses a photographer's black-out bag as a blind fold to give Lucas's eyes a chance to rest and re-set. Probably much later, Z removes teh blindfold. things are still a little blurry but Marshall helps Lucas put on his glasses and huzzah! his sight is back to normal and the freaky X-ray vision is gone. He even promises to make up for what he's done. (and we beleive him this time) although Josie says he doesn't have to make good the bets until he feels up to it. Z suggests they call it a night but Josie stays behind a few moments to talk with Lucas. She asks if he saw the chi ball. he says he isn't sure, he isn't sure of anything he's seen. She asks if this means that Vaughn's telling the truth. he says he doesn't know 'I think there's a lot in vaugn's life we'll never know about.' He walks away and Josie looks surprised, grateful even. I'm sure it's a moment J/L shippers will like. indigo said it was like she was seeing him in a whole new light (I, as a J/V shipper and her big sister, told her shut up) Next we see Vaughn sitting at home, looking very down. Victor enters and asks him what's wrong. he says he's just thinking. "People treat me differently because I'm your son" Victor expresses no surprise. he says that he's a pearson. Some fear the name, even more are jealous of it. vaughn asks if it is always going to be this way. "No, son. your destiny is still being written as is mine. until we're called upon to fulfil it, I need you to be ready. "I will be, Dad. I promise..." Episode ends.

Excellent recap HS!! Thanks!! ;D ;D ;D
Sounds like another really good episode...
So Lucas used marked cards...they would so 'get' him in Vegas and Josie would only have pieces of Lucas then...totally knew where that was going with that supplies list...bad Lucas ...
So Victor keeps the neckace in a bell jar...interesting...
I was thinking Vision might have something to do with x-ray vision but nothing like that...wow...BHH Energy really enjoys messing with everyone...*giggles*
And so nice of Victor...'I need you to be ready' but I'm not telling you why...can't you just see Vaughn thinking to himself 'hey dad...a little clue here'...though he wouldn't admit anything to Victor...*hehehe*...
so can't wait to 'see' Vision... ;D ;D ;D

"The game is hearts." Josie tells us. ooooo. ummmmm.... seems like a rather calm game for people like them or at least Josie. "The object is to loose all your hearts, a concept that Lucas doesn't seem able to grasp" you can also do what is refered to as "shooting the moon" where you collect all the hearts and the Q of spades, giving all other players 26 points. a varient is also played with the J of diamonds where, if you get that, you subtract 10 points from your score. Josie asks what they're playing for next as she deals again. Lucas refuses to be beaten and suggests double or nothing. they're betting? the scene changes to Lucas in the science lab. We're shown a pack of cards, an encycolpedia of vision, a special pen and a pair of glasses that Lucas is treating with some mystery solution. ... He writes on the new set of cards he has with the special pen, ... cheator! no gamer likes cheators. The bell rings and Vaughn thumps his nasty dirty football boot in front of where Lucas is sitting, Lucas owes him unlimited shoe shines for a week. wow, not only does Lucas not like Vaughn and Vaughn is more favored by the girl that Lucas likes, but Lucas owes Vaughn chores? ouch. aughn says he's expecing a mirror shine on his cleats. hahahahahaha. that must have been said in a slightly amusing tone. Josie exclaims that that was amazing. he says that maybe he'll show her his secret... when she's done cleaning his room for the next 2 weeks. yeah, Lucas, that'll really make her like you indigo said it was like she was seeing him in a whole new light (I, as a J/V shipper and her big sister, told her shut up) *lol* Victor expresses no surprise. he says that he's a pearson. Some fear the name, even more are jealous of it. wow, that's a bit egotistical.

Totally forgot to say the card game is one of the new 'fade ins' for BHH from the commercials...
and forgot about cleat too... a cleat is a small flat protrusion on the bottom of athletic shoes helps with traction on grass...the bottom of the shoes are covered with them...kind of like golf shoes have the metal spikes these are rubber and grip turf...
and we found out Lucas doesn't like to lose especially in front of Josie...he tries so hard to be her hero......throw the sweet guy something every once in awhile at least...poor Lucas' ego...bruised, battered, but not down for the count... ;D

Am I the only one who finds this a bit contrived. Lucas doesn't strike me as the sort who would cheat at cards.

He was sick of losing
You missed the funny bit
When Stu was sleeping and Z embarrassed him he asked "Mr Kubiak... care to tell me why the pigment is important to the eye." "Pig...pigment? er.... makes Bacon?" "No Stu,"

Have you seen Radio? That's another ep where Lucas cheats his friends. He gambles and he hates to lose. Let's face it, out of all of them he is the most likely to cheat at any given game (apart from Monopoly. Everybody cheats at that.)

Lucas also used cheats on video games... ;D ;D ;D
And the 'Nutrition' bars...can't forget those...
Lucas cheats anytime he can when it's to his advantage and he's not going to get in trouble with Durst or Z over it... ;D ;D

Let's face it, out of all of them he is the most likely to cheat at any given game (apart from Monopoly. Everybody cheats at that.) The one thing that does kind of bug me is the Hearts, along with Solataire is bundled with most Windows operating systems so Lucas should probably have been familiar with the game. If it were somethi8ng like poker with bluffing and all that I'd believe it. Though "Hearts" might have been chosen for the symbolism of the term... With Lucas not being successful with affairs of the hearts or something like that.

why not? we've got him on forced entry and trespassing, and vandalism. *lol* And don't forget theft...he used the five finger method when he lifted Vaughn's keys...
Lucas could so be his own crime spree...maybe when things went missing in Ecosystems they should have looked Lucas' way... ;D ;D ;D
